2010

And we’re back! After a long lapse in blog updates Custom Ireland has lots of news we’d like to share with you.

It has, thankfully, been a busy year so far and since last blogging we have been involved in all sorts of interesting and hardworking things. Last September Custom Ireland assisted in hosting and transporting 2,500 people in and around Dublin as part of the great Guinness event that was Arthur’s Day 2009. It was a fantastic week for Dublin, and we were delighted to welcome so many international visitors and treat them to an evening of fantastic music and dance in the Church Bar & Restaurant. This was a poignant location indeed because this is the Church where Arthur himself was married. In case you’re wondering the building is now converted, and just one of Dublin’s many quirky establishments! Arthur’s Day is taking place again this 23rd of September with what seems like another great band lineup throughout Dublin city.

Earlier in the year, Custom Ireland was affected like everyone else by that overhanging Icelandic ash cloud. It did it’s best to disrupt client travel, but with a little ingenuity and plenty of rearrangements most trips remained on track or were rescheduled. One happy group even got a week’s extended stay in Dublin, which we happily accommodated, keeping them busy with plenty of activities and good food; one of the highlights being fish and chips from the famous Burdocks.

Changes, changes…we moved office! In May we said goodbye to the creaking stairs and old friendly home that was 47 Wellington Quay. We are now located in the sparkling, light filled surrounds of Spencer Dock in Dublin 1 and we love it. We haven’t strayed far from the River Liffey, but now we’re at the doorstep of the IFSC, the new CCD building, Calatrava’s magnificent Samuel Beckett bridge and across the water from the Grand Canal and her beautiful theatre.Wwe believe we have found a great home in which to continue business. We would be delighted to welcome you for a visit.

We can’t help but mention the return this summer of one of our most loyal clients. For the 8th year Doris Jellig and her Tidewater College group returned from the US for their annual Irish cultural tour. Doris is a great Ireland enthusiast and teacher, and this bunch may well know more of Ireland’s nooks and crannies than the average Irish man does!

We’ve been delighted to have worked with many new faces this year including KPMG and Abbott Nutritional. There are lots more new and interesting projects in the pipeline. We look forward to keeping you posted on all things Ireland!
